Biography

Kyra Frimout is a harpist and singer with a passion for contemporary and electroacoustic music. She studied Classical Music at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Ernestine Stoop, where she has just finished a Master’s in New Audiences and Innovative Practice, under the guidance of Percussionist Renee Jonker and having her main instrument lessons with Sylvain Blassel. In Autumn 2024, she studied with harpist-composer Caroline Lizotte in Montréal through an Erasmus Exchange, deepening her understanding of electroacoustic harp techniques. Coming Fall of 2025, Kyra will continue her studies with a Master in Interpretation at the Faculté de Musique de l’Université de Montréal, for which she received a scholarship by the Cultuurfonds, a prestigious culture foundation in The Netherlands. Kyra explores the intersection of traditional harp performance and modern technology, integrating live electronics to expand the instrument’s expressive potential. Through her work, she seeks to redefine the role of the harp in contemporary music, using electronic effects to open new creative possibilities in both composition and improvisation.
